A California Distinguished School

Mission Statement

We value the worth of each individual and every student's need to acquire confidence and self-assurance through educational and social success. Programs that are in place, and programs that are planned for implementation in the future, are designed to provide learning experiences for all students to:

· build higher feelings of self-worth and self-esteem.

· instill a need to acquire mastery of knowledge and skills.

· develop critical thinkers and independent learners.

· prepare students for future challenges of high school and beyond.

· inspire a life-long love of learning.

· develop a compassion for life and nature.

· encourage students to develop a higher social conscience and a commitment to make our world a better place in which to live.

School Based Coordinated Program Rationale

The Sierra Ridge Middle School Based Coordinated Program (SBCP) is designed to effectively utilize and maximize resources to enhance student learning.  All students can have their needs met by a variety of educational services.  Under the SBCP, student learning will be based on students need rather than program requirements. Educators will be allowed freedom and flexibility to plan for student success.

The School Site Council will play an active role in development of a school plan, which will include:

· Determination of school-wide goals.

· Staff development activities.

· The implementation of pertinent school programs.

· The allocation of School Improvement Program and other funds to support the school's instructional program.

Working in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork, teachers, administration, and other staff take responsibility for the design, implementation, supervision, and
on-going evaluation of departmental programs and classroom activities.
